Sen. Steve Southerland Nominated To Serve On Fiscal Review Commitee

Tennessee’s Senate Republican Caucus met Tuesday in Nashville. Caucus members voted unanimously to renominate Lt. Governor Randy McNally to a fourth term as Senate Speaker and to return Senator Jack Johnson as Majority Leader and Senator Ken Yager as Republican Caucus Chairman. This is the third term for each in those respective roles. Caucus members also voted to nominate Senator Paul Bailey and Senator Steve Southerland to serve on the Joint Fiscal Review Committee. That committee conducts a continuing review of the financial operations of state government. All of those nominees will be confirmed by a resolution of the full Senate when the General Assembly convenes…which begins on January 10th. Republicans hold a major majority in the state senate…27-6.
