Jefferson City Man Leads Officers On Two High Speed Chases
Authorities in Jefferson County arrested a Jefferson City man after he led officers from multiple agencies on two high speed chases. Things started Monday afternoon when Jefferson City police officers attempted to stop 27 year old Austin Stapleton who was wanted on felony warrants. Stapleton did not stop and led officers on a chase to the Grainger County line. His car was later spotted behind a home on Lakeshore Road, but he fled again this time with Grainger county deputies chasing him. Grainger County used spike strips to flatten the car’s tires but Stapleton then fled on foot. Jefferson City officers were finally able to get him into custody and he was taken to the Jefferson County Detention Center in Dandridge. Stapleton is charged with felony evading and felony reckless endangerment among other charges
