Man Disappeared While Kayaking In GSMNP
Crews were working over the weekend in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park…looking for a man who had been kayaking on the Little River. Park officials say they were notified about a man Friday afternoon that was kayking above the Sinks in the national park. The 61 year old man disappeared underwater and never resurfaced. The Sinks is a waterfall located off Little River Gorge Road, about halfway between the Townsend Wye and the Metcalf Bottoms Picnic Pavilion. Officials say that high water level from recent rain was complicating the recovery efforts to find the man. As of this morning, the man’s body has not yet been found.
