Recent Scam In Cocke County

Here is an example of a recent scam going on in cocke county. A woman called police last week and stated that she had been looking for a residence to rent and found a post on Facebook concerning a residence for sale on Lincoln Ave. The victim stated she had been in communication with someone posing as the owner of the house and looking to rent it out. Sher stated she paid a total of $1,000.00 to three separate PayPal accounts after being presented with what she believed were legitimate rental agreement forms. The victim provided police with names and phone numbers affiliated with the scam…no arrests have ben made as police investigate the matter.
