Newport Man Arrested For Assaulting Mother

A Newport man was arrested on Tuesday after he assaulted his mother. Officers were called to the home of Donna Owens…the 57 year old told police that her son, 40 year old Daniel Owens had been beating on her. Police could hear Owens screaming obscenities at his mother when they arrived. Daniel Owens rushed to a back bedroom where police found him. A 58 year old male, also living in the home, stated that Daniel Owens had made threats of bodily harm to both he an Donna Owens. Daniel Owens had been arrested in the past for assaulting his mother. He is now charged with domestic assault and also probation violation.
