Cocke County Among Majority Of Counties That See Unemployment Rate Fall In Dec 2022

Unemployment numbers for individual counties in Tennessee was released on Thursday and the data showed that the unemployment rate went down for just about every county in Tennessee in the month of December. Eighty-nine of the state’s 95 counties reported unemployment rates that went down during the month of December 2022. That list includes Cocke County, whose unemployment rate fell from 4.4% in November to 4.2% last month. The only exception in the area was Greene County whose unemployment rate remained unchanged at 4.2%. All other counties in the area saw their rates decrease, that included Grainger County down to 3.2%. Hamblen County down from 3.3 to 3% for December. Jefferson County also decreased from 3.4 to 3.1% and Sevier County, with one of the lowest unemployment rates in the state fell to 2.5% from 2.7% in November. Bledsoe County on the Cumberland Plateau had the state’s highest rate at 5.3%…the only county above 5% in the state. Williamson County once again had the lowest unemployment rate at 2.1%.
