Cocke County K-9 Captures Suspect
Cocke County canine officer and partner were successful in apprehending a fleeing suspect on Tuesday. Deputy Jacob Damron stated a white Nissan SUV was traveling on Highway 107 in the wrong direction of traffic. Damron stated he turned around and began following the Nissan, whose tags were registered to a Chevy. When Damron attempted a traffic stop, the Nissan took off turning left onto Old 115th driving recklessly around curves and nearly colliding with a tractor. The Nissan turned onto Chapel Hollow Road and when that road ended continued traveling on an ATV trail before stopping. At that time, the driver and passenger exited the vehicle attempting to flee on foot. The passenger obeyed commands to surrender, K-9 Wubba was dispatched to go after the driver. K-9 Wuba captured the driver trying to hide under a pile of brush. The man was 53 year old Curtis Reed of Del Rio. He was treated y EMS on site for dog bites, then transported to jail charged with evading arrest and reckless driving. The passenger, 40 year old Helen King of Del Rio was wanted on probation violation and was taken into custody as well.
