Two Dandridge Police Officers Honored
Two Dandridge police officers are being hailed as heroes and received letters of commendation on Tuesday. Dandridge police chief Carson Williams says on January 5 at approximately 2:43am officers were dispatched to a possible structure fire at The Point Resort. Officers Sam Cameron and Michael Adams were nearby and arrived on scene shortly after the call was dispatched. Upon arrival they observed one camper fully engulfed and realized the fire was quickly jumping to other campers in the area due to strong winds. Officers were able to quickly determine one of the campers was occupied and began trying to alert the occupant. Due to their quick actions, they were able to wake the woman inside and get her out of the camper just before it was completely destroyed by fire. Dandridge Fire Chief Andy Riley, who was on scene that night says Officers Cameron and Adams likely saved the life of the female occupant inside because she told firefighters that she was asleep and had no idea the campers were on fire. Due to the officers quick actions, that woman only received minor burns to the bottom of her feet.
