Tractor Trailer Hits And Drags Car

A scary moment for a Newport Woman Saturday morning when her vehicle was hit by a semi. Melissa Lane told police she was sitting at the red light at the intersection of West Broadway and Cosby Hwy. She stated a tractor trailer turned right on a red light when doing do so, the trailer of the semi caught her vehicle and began to drag it. The driver of the tractor trailer did not stop. A witness gave police information about the truck. Police were able to call the trucking company and identify the driver as 33 year old Calvin Smith. The truck belonged to a company out of Springfield, OH. The driver has been issued a citation for making an illegal turn.
