Newport Police Help Capture Evading Suspect

Jefferson County authorities contacted Cocke County authorities Friday night for assistance in catching an evading suspect that was heading into Cocke County. Newport officers joined the chase when the fleeing suspect entered the Newport City Limits on West Hwy 25/70. The suspect then jumped out of his vehicle and fled on foot across a field. He was caught by a Jefferson County deputy and was detained with the help of a Newport officer and a taser. 46 year old Bradley Hartsell was wanted on several warrants from Knox and Jefferson Counties. He was transported back to Jefferson County.
