Man Arrested For Theft Under $1,000
A Newport man called police over the weekend to report some climbing equipment had been stolen from his truck. The 40 year old man called police to his home on Morrell Springs Road and stated he got home from church and found the door of his pickup truck was open. Missing from the truck were a Buckingham climbing belt, 150 FT of green climbing rope, Buckingham climbing spikes, a micro pulley, and a three way safety lanyard. The man gave police the name of a suspect and an officer went to the home of 63 year old Bradley Cox. Mr. Cox opened his trunk to reveal the stolen equipment and stated he would return he equipment when the other man returned a saw Cox claimed he had stolen. Bradley Cox was taken into custody and charged with theft under $1,000.
