Several Firearms Reported Stolen In Cocke County
Several people reporting to the Cocke County Sheriff’s office that they have had firearms stolen. One woman on Leaf Way in Newport stated she had a man subject staying with her and after an argument he left and supposedly returned to Sevierville. That’s when she noticed her Springfield 9mm Hellcat handgun was missing. She suspects the man took it when he left.
James Estepp of Newport told the sheriff’s department that he has a camper located on Carson Springs Road that is in the process of being repossessed. That camper was towed away last week and Estepp says his Smith & Wesson AR-15 .556 caliber rifle was inside. The towing company, Rapture Towing, sent Estepp pictures of the inside of the camper but no rifle could be seen in the pictures. He says the last time he saw the rifle was on March 16th…
Finally, David Bible of Del Rio told deputies he had picked up 27 year old Amber Perry, who was looking for a ride back to South Carolina. Bible says he took her to his residence. He says he went outside his home and saw a car pull up to his driveway which was gone before he could get to the driveway. He says he gave Perry a ride back to Newport and it was afterwards he found his .45 caliber pistol was missing from his car. He also found a bolt action rifle missing from his residence. Bible says he suspects Amber Perry took the firearms. Perry had been in jail after being charged with prostitution and theft after she was picked up by a truck driver who gave her a ride from South Carolina.
