Faison Now Sponsoring Bill To Help Halt Gun Thefts
State Representative Jeremy Faison is now sponsoring a bill that would require gun owners who carry a gun in their vehicle, to lock that weapon in a glove box or another location in their vehicle. This would keep the gun concealed from would be smash and grab thieves. There has been a rash of thefts where thieves look into a vehicle to see if there is anything out in the open that can be taken quickly, such as a gun. Faison says that if the gun is locked in a secure location, thieves will not take the time to break into the car or truck to just have to break into another location to get the gun. These thieves are looking to smash and grab. A democrat lawmaker had originally introduced the bill, but after the recent school shooting in Nashville, Faison has taken up co-sponsorship to get the bill as he puts it “across the finish line”. A similar bill in the senate was tabled until 2024.
