Walters State Campus Police Awarded
The Walters State Campus Police Department was named the top college/university police force during the 19th annual Law Enforcement Challenge, sponsored by the Tennessee Highway Safety Office. Award recipients are chosen based on several factors, including efforts to promote driving safety on campus. “Our four campuses are among the safest in the state due to the efforts of our Campus Police Officers,” Dr. Tony Miksa, president of Walters State said. He goes on to say that he is very pleased to see their efforts recognized by the TN Highway Safety Office. Campus Police officers are certified through the Peace Officer’s Standards and Training Commission. They have full arrest and investigative powers on Walters State campuses. The THSO is a division of the TN Department of Safety and Homeland Security advocating for traffic safety.
