Newport Police Looking Into Missing Money From Motel

Newport police are looking into money being taken from a local motel. Management at the Motel 6 say that on Sunday, the woman working the front desk around 5 am started receiving calls from someone claiming to be the brother to the owner of the Motel 6 and that he needed her to send him the money from the cash register thru bitcoin. Around 5:30 am video shows the desk clerk taking the money, $398 from the register and leaving the motel. The clerk says she sent the money to bitcoin along with also sending him $250 dollars of her own money. The motel’s owner told police that the desk clerk is to notify her of any money issues. The owner also stated that video shows the desk clerk trying to get into the safe as well. NO arrest has been made in that case.
