Newport Police Called To Newport Medical Center, Unruly Patient

Newport police had to be called Saturday night to the Newport Medical Center because of an unruly patient. ER doctors stated they could not care for their other patients because of the behavior of 68 year old Linda Witt. According to hospital staff, Witt who was yelling and refusing to return to her room, plus hitting the walls and doors of the hospital. While doctors attempted to speak with Ms. Witt she pulled a hospital fire alarm causing the Newport Fire Department to respond. Police responded and along with medical staff attempted to deescalate the situation, but she refused to comply and continued with her irrational behavior. Witt then pulled another fire alarm, and attempted to chase after a doctor and then continued t beat on the hospital doors that the doctor exited from. Witt was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, plus false report for pulling the fire alarm.
