Body Found In Douglas Lake Identified…Victim Has Cocke County Ties
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s office has released the identity of the body found in Douglas Lake on September 1st and the victim has Cocke County ties. According to the sheriff’s office, the Knox County Forensics Center had confirmed the body is that of 39 year old Chucky Gene Baker who has been known to stay with people in both Jefferson and Cocke County. Baker’s body was found in the water near the Indian Creek Bridge on state route 363 by fishermen Friday morning. Sheriff Jeff Coffey says the circumstances surrounding Baker’s death are still under investigation. According to their investigation, Baker was last seen in Newport on August 26th, driving a 1991 Dodge Dakota truck, black in color with red pinstripes. Authorities are searching for that truck.
