Wanted Indiana Man May Be In East TN

The United States Marshals Service and the Indiana State Police are asking for the assistance of East Tennessee residents in helping them locate a man wanted for raping a child. an underage girl. 55-year-old Steve Sumner, who is from Madison County Indiana also goes by the name of Craig. He is charged with 18 counts in the case, including 15 felony counts related to the rape of an underage girl.

The US Marshals Service says there is reason to believe Sumner has been in and may still be in the Gatlinburg area. He also has connections to the Waynesville, NC area.

Sumner has a history of participating in the Nazarene Church in Montana & Colorado having attended the Nazarene Church Bible College. Authorities in Indiana say he may be working as a handyman. Sumner is 6 feet tall and weighs 215 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes.

The Marshals’ service says Sumner may be assisted by a female. Her name is Sharon Bailey Wood Barker. She is 5’7”, 125 lbs with blonde hair, which she may have dyed. Anyone who spots this pair is being urged to call East Tennessee Crime Stoppers at 865-215-TIPS.
