Cocke County Men Arrested As Part Of Drug Investigation

Two men long suspected of being part of a drug operation have now been arrested. On Thursday, the Cocke County Sheriff’s office and the TBI arrested 45 year old Jerry Lynn Shelton at his residence on Woodson Road in Newport. Also taken into custody was 40 year old Ben McGaha. According to the Cocke County Sheriff’s office, the two men have been part of a long-term eastern district of Tennessee methamphetamine distribution investigation led by Drug Agents from the Cocke County Sheriff’s Office along with tje Newport Police Department, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration and the ATF. Over 4 pounds of methamphetamine was seized during that investigation. That case has now been handed over to the United States Attorney’s office in Greeneville.
