Search For Cocke County Murder Suspect Underway
The search continues in Cocke County for a man suspected of murder. The Cocke County Sheriff’s office was dispatched out to an address on Baysinger Road just before noon on Sunday. Upon arrival officers found one victim deceased from a possible gunshot wound lying on the ground. Officers investigated and learned that 66 year old David Kite Moore was the suspect in the fatal shooting and that he was still in the residence. The Cocke County/Newport Tactical Response team responded to the scene and after several hours of negotiations, the Sevierville Police Department was called in to assist with manpower and to implement their small drones. The drones were then deployed into the residence to see if Moore could be spotted inside, but they were unsuccessful in spotting the suspect. The SWAT team then breached the residence and cleared the home, but Moore was not inside. The sheriff’s office says they do not know which direction Moore left in, but advised residents in that area to stay in their homes. The TBI has been called in to investigate the homicide. David Kite Moore should be considered armed and dangerous. He is 66 years old, 5′ 10′ tall , weighs 204 lbs, and is possibly bald-headed. The picture of Moore is from three years ago. The sheriff’s office is asking the public to be on the lookout for the suspect and if spotted, you should call 911.
