Man Arrested For Possession

An off duty Newport police officer, who was still in his patrol car, was flagged down over the weekend by a citizen saying that a man was passed out behind the wheel of a pickup truck at the Eastport Car Wash The off duty officer spotted the truck parked y the vacuums. The officer, who was off duty, spotted a container in the man’s lap normally used for storing illegal narcotics. That officer then called for an on-duty officer before retrieving the box. However, the person behind the wheel of the truck came alert before the on duty officer arrived. The box in the truck contained methamphetamine. 31 year old Reece Brown was taken into custody and charged with possession of meth and was wanted in Cocke County for violation of probation.
