Change Of Polling Place For Northport Precinct
2024 is a big election year and a change is coming that will affect some voters in Cocke County. Josh Blanchard, the head of the Cocke County Election Commission says there will be a change in 2024 for the voters in the Northport Voting Precinct. After years of voting near the City Park at the fire department on Election Day, the Northport precinct will now move to the Disabled American Veterans Building on Pine Street. This change will begin with the next election on March 5, 2024. Josh says if you live and vote in the Northport precinct, there is nothing that you need to do, as new voter registration cards will be mailed out soon.
The change to Northport’s Election Day precinct will not affect early voting, as once again Early Voting for all of Cocke County for 2024 will take place at the Western Plaza Shopping Center.
Josh Blanchard says that this week also marks the start of candidate qualifying for Assessor of Property in Cocke County. That position will be on the ballot for March 5th. That is the day known as Super Tuesday.
Tennessee and numerous other states will hold their presidential primary that day. The voter registration deadline for the March election is February 5, 2024. You can register to vote in- person, by going to the Cocke County Election office in the Courthouse Annex building Monday – Friday 8 a.m.– 4 p.m. Online Voter Registration is also available at GoVoteTN.gov.
