Human Remains Found By Hunter In Greene County
The Greene County Sheriff’s office is investigating human remains that were found in the Mohawk area of the county Tuesday. According to information released by the Greene County Sheriff’s office, around 9:30 Tuesday morning, Sheriff Wesley Holt met with a hunter who had been scouting property for deer on Idell Road . This is near exit 23 on I-81. The hunter led Sheriff Holt to what appeared to be a human skull he had discovered. The Greene County Sheriff’s Department’s Criminal Investigation Division along with the Human Remains Detection K9 “Ruger” responded to that scene. While processing the area, more human skeletal remains were discovered. Sheriff Holt says it appears the remains have been at that location for quite some time. The remains have been sent to the William L. Jenkins Forensic Center in Johnson City to hopefully make a positive identification. Sheriff Holt said “We are hopeful that we can get the remains identified to bring someone’s family some closure.”
