Cocke County Man Accidentally Shoots Self

A Cocke County man required medical attention this week when he accidentally shot himself. Logan Proctor told a Cocke County deputy that he was under his vehicle changing its oil filter, when he heard a loud bang. He came out from under the vehicle to discover his arm was bleeding. Proctor says he had a .38 caliber Derringer pistol in his pocket. The gun had slid out of his pocket and caught on his knife, causing the firearm to discharge. The bullet entered enter the bottom of his arm and exited the upper part of his arm. He was taken to Newport Medical Center for treatment.
