Newport PD Still Accepting Applications For Police Officer
The Newport Police Department and the Civil Service Board are continuing to accept applications for the position of police officer. Applicants must be 21 years of age, provide copies of their high school diploma or GED, a valid TN Driver’s License, a copy of discharge if a military veteran and provide a copy of birth certificate. If P.O.S.T. Certified you need to provide a copy of certification. Incomplete application packets will be disqualified from consideration.
A hiring bonus is available.
*TN POST Certified Officer $10,000
In order to be eligible, you can NOT be a current law enforcement employee or have been employed as a law enforcement officer for at least 1 year. Incremental pay will begin on your 6-month anniversary date. You must remain employed as a NPD officer for at least 3 years to earn the entire $10,000.
*Non-Certified Applicants $8,000
Non-certified applicants who are eligible will receive $8,000. Incremental pay will begin on your 12-month anniversary date. You must remain employed as a NPD officer for at least 3 years to earn the entire $8,000.
Application packets can be picked up in person at the Newport Police Department at 330 E. Main Street or online at the City of Newport’s website. Completed packets must be turned in at the Newport Police Department no later than 4:30 pm on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.
