Police Respond To Multiple Break-Ins
Police responded to two more break-ins in Newport Monday. First, early Monday morning police received a burglar alarm notification at Farmer’s Furniture on West Broadway. Police arrived and discovered the rear delivery bay door had been pried open and a security light broken from the wall. A check of the business found no one inside the building. Michael Trent of Farmer’s Furniture arrived on scene and told police that nothing appeared to be missing, but the damage to the bay door was extensive…estimated to be around $2,000. A check of the building’s security footage showed that at 1:47am a male dressed in a hoodie, used a metal pole to break and pry open the delivery bay door and then entered the business and quickly ran out of view of the camera. The male subject then could be seen leaving the business through the same delivery bay door that he entered from. That happening mere seconds before police arrived on scene.
Then, later Monday morning police were called to David-Jolly’s Nail Spa at 330 West Broadway. The owner of the business stated that an unknown person had broken into her business and stolen around $200 in cash. The unknown suspect had broken out a window in the rear of the building to make entry.
Over the weekend Newport Quick Lube and the 95 Market were also hit by burglars. In those incidents, nothing appeared to be taken.
