NPS Warns Of Parking Pass Scam
The National Park Service is warning about a scam revolving around parking passes in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The National Park Service says they are investigating an online scam that is selling fraudulent parking tags for the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It seems someone posing as the National Park Service is directing individuals and organizations to a website titled “Smokies Park Pass.” This website looks like it belongs to the park’s partner, Great Smoky Mountains Association, but it is not. The park service is warning park goers to not buy a parking pass from that website…smokiesparkpass.com.
The National Park service says Official Great Smoky Mountains National Park parking tags are available for sale online ONLY through smokiesinformation.org or Recreation.gov. There are no other sites that sell the parking passes.
The National Park Service says that one hundred percent of the funds generated by park fees stay right here in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to improve visitor safety, increase park ranger presence and to repair, enhance and maintain the park’s facilities.
