Drug Arrest At Newport Motel
A drug arrest in Cocke County earlier this week. US Marshals and the Cocke County Sheriff’s office had information that 39 year old Christopher Hinson of Dandridge was staying at the Motel 6 in Newport. He was wanted on probation violation and violation of the sex offender registry charges. Marshals and deputies arrived at the room Hinson was staying in, made entry and observed Hinson laying on the bed with an unknown female. Hinson appeared to toss something to the top of the bed in a clear container before finally complying with commands to get off the bed. During a search of the room, drugs were found including 19.8 grams of heroin with a street value of nearly $4,000. Also found was 4.5 grams of mushrooms, 12 grams of marijuana, 16 suboxone strips with a street value of $600.
Hinson now faces two counts of possession with intent to sell heroin. He also faces charges of possession of schedule III & VI narcotics with intent to sell. The woman in the room with Hinson was not charged.
