US Marshall Service Appoints First Female Chief Deputy
The United States Marshal Service is touting the announcement of the first woman to be named as chief deputy in the Eastern District of Tennessee. U.S. Marshal Grace Rivera was announced as the new Chief Deputy for the Eastern District. Rivera is the first woman to be named to that position in any of the three judicial districts in the state of Tennessee. Rivera began with the marshal’s service in 2010. She rose through the ranks becoming a Deputy U.S. Marshal in D.C. Superior Court, before finally becoming Supervisory Deputy Marshal. While Rivera is the first woman to serve in that role in Tennessee, US Marshal David Jolley says there is an influx of women joining the US Marshal Service.
