Woman Pleads Guilty To Shooting
The woman who shot and killed another woman in the parking lot of Soaky Mountain Waterpark nearly two years ago has now plead guilty to second degree murder.
Back on July 31, 2021 Sevierville police responded to a shooting in the parking lot of the Soaky Mountain Waterpark. They found Kelsy Cook and Angie Russell suffering from gunshot wounds. Cook was airlifted to UT but did not survive.
Police arrested Sarah Romine for the shooting. She was indicted last year for first-degree murder, plus two counts of aggravated assault and five counts of reckless endangerment. On Tuesday, Romine agreed to plead guilty to the charge of second degree murder and aggravated assault. A judge sentenced her to 16 years without the possibility of parole for the second degree murder charge. She was given a four year sentence for the aggravated assault charge. She will be eligible for parole after serving 30% of that sentence. Those sentences will run consecutively. That means she will serve a minimum of just over 17 years before she will be eligible for parole.
