Newport Fire Dept Accepting Applications For Part Time

In February, the Newport City Council approved a plan to hire part time firefighters and police officers for the city of Newport. This was a move to help with staffing shortages. The Newport Fire Department is now accepting applications for part time firefighters.

You need to be at least 18 years of age to apply, have a high school diploma or your GED and you need to have a valid Tennessee drivers’ license.

Firefighter I & II and EMR Certification is preferred. Applicants must pass a background check, plus pass a drug test and a physical test. If you are interested in applying, applications are available at Newport City Hall or online at www.cityofnewport-tn.com
