Hilltop Baptist Church Vandalized

A Newport church was the victim of vandalism. Pastor Ben Watts of the Hilltop Baptist Church says three concrete statues that had been glued in place by construction adhesive, so the statues would not be easily toppled. However, someone last week, did topple those statues. Not only were the statues heavily damaged, but the fence behind them was damaged as well. Video footage from neighboring building showed a subject approach the statues from the North and shove each statue towards the fence behind them. The subject then turned and walked back in the same direction they came from. That person has not yet been identified. Damage to the statues and fence is nearly $2,000.
