Police Respond To Gunshot Victim

Newport police responded to the Newport Medical Center Saturday in reference to a woman with a gunshot wound. The patient, Charlotte Leibrock told nursing staff that the incident happened at her home on Golf Course Road in the Newport City Limits and that she had shot herself. When Newport police arrived, they questioned Leirock as to the location of the incident, to make sure that the incident was not in the jurisdiction of the Cocke County Sheriff’s Office. Leibrock became argumentative and upset that police were called, but then informed them that the incident had happened at her law office in Downtown Newport. Leibrock continued to be uncooperative with police who determined that she was in an intoxicated state. No arrests was made in that case.
