More Information About Bank Robbery
More information has been released about that bank robbery that happened in Newport Friday. According to Newport Police, the suspect got out of the driver’s side of a Ford Mustang and went inside the lobby of the downtown branch of the Newport Federal Bank at 3:30 Friday afternoon. The suspect then asked for a piece of paper and wrote a note to the teller saying ” I have a knife and a gun be quiet and hand me the money”. the teller did as instructed and the man exited the bank two minutes later, got back into the driver’s side of the Ford Mustang and was last seen driving westbound on east Broadway. The suspect got away with nearly $3,000.
The suspect was wearing a long sleeve shirt and shorts plus dark sunglasses. The suspect is a white male with very short hair about 5’8″ tall and weighing 200-220 pounds.
