Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Arrest
Cocke County deputies pulled over a vehicle late Sunday night that was missing a headlight. The traffic stop occurred on Highway 73 at the 440 Truck Stop. 45 year old Kenneth Ramsey was driving a blue 1983 Chevrolet 1500, but the tag on it was registered to a blue 1996 Ford F-150. When deputies check the VIN number on the Chevy truck, it came back as being unregistered. Ramsey suffered a medical incident while the traffic stop was underway and EMS was called to the scene. They transported Ramsey to the Newport Medical Center. During a search of his truck, deputies found a Marlboro cigarette container that had no cigarettes inside, but did contain a baggie with just over 3 grams of methamphetamine. After being medically cleared, Ramsey was arrested and charged with possession of meth with intent to sell.
