Walking With A Gun

Deputies responded to a residence on Dark Hollow Road in regard to a male walking onto the property with a handgun in his hand. Deputy Colley made contact with the male, identified as Ivan Shults. Shults’ speech was fast and he stated his heart was pounding. He was also having a hard time keeping his balance. The officer was unable to get a clear story of what happened or caused him to be on the property with a loaded hand gun. While being examined by EMS, Mr. Shults stated he had taken LSD and Seroquel. He was transferred to Newport Medical Center by EMS. Upon discharge from the hospital, Mr. Shults was transported to the Cocke County Jail and charged with possession of a handgun while under the influence and public intoxication.
