Gov Lee Signs Bill Allowing Teachers To Go Armed
The law that will allow teachers in Tennessee schools to carry a concealed handgun in schools was signed by Governor Bill Lee on Friday. The bill pitted republicans against democrats and caused quite the stir on Capitol Hill last week. The senate passed the legislation by a wide margin earlier in April and the house then followed suit last week, passing the bill, mainly along party lines with republicans supporting the bill and democrats opposing.
The bill allows a teacher to carry a concealed weapon on school property if they so choose. The teacher has to be approved by the school district superintendent, the school’s principal and the head of local law enforcement before being allowed to carry in school.
