Shoplifters Finding New Ways
People continue to find new ways to shoplift from stores. Lowe’s Home Improvement called Newport Police to tell them about a recent shoplifting event. The loss prevention manager at Lowe’s told police that he recognized 31 year old Brandon Clevenger from a previous shoplifting incident. This time, he says that Clevenger entered the Lowe’s store and placed a boxed Dewalt Compound Miter Saw in a shopping cart, then proceeded to push it out the exit door with an old receipt making employees think he had already paid for it. Clevenger then proceeded to load the saw into his truck, but wasn’t done. Clevenger went back into the store, picked up a boxed Mitre Saw stand, and this time left out the lumber end of the store with the boxed stand on his shoulder and using an old receipt walked out without paying for that item. Total loss to Lowe’s was over $800. No arrest has been made yet in that theft.
