Man Who Fled From Sevier County Police Faces Over 25 Charges
The man who led police on a high speed chase through Sevier County last week is now facing over 25 charges. Jonathyan Sims was wanted on an aggravated assault charge and Gatlinburg police tried to pull him over, but Sims turned onto Glades Road and started police on a pursuit that finally ended on Hwy 411 on the east side of Sevierviille near Robert Henderson Road when Sims crashed his vehicle into a Sevier County patrol car. He tried to flee on foot but was captured shortly thereafter. Among the charges Sims faces are six counts of reckless endangerment; three counts of evading arrest; Aggravated assault against a first responder or nurse, and aggravated domestic assault as well as kidnapping. He is being held in the Sevier County jail on a $150,000 bond.
