Police Try To Track Down Stolen CAT

Newport police are on the lookout for a stolen Caterpillar…a $42,000 Caterpillar. Police were called out Saturday to a lot on Sequoyah Drive where Tommy Turner told Sgt. Justin Vinson that he had parked his Caterpillar excavator on that plot of land along with a 10ft trailer around the 28th or 29th of April. When he returned to the property on Saturday both the excavator and the trailer were not there. A check of GPS for the excavator showed its last location was behind 837 Martine St in Newport on April 30th. Tracking ended at that time. Newport police were hoping to contact a Caterpillar dealer yesterday to attempt to get further GPS information on that excavator.
