ETSU Golf Team Gets Apology From Airline After Rough Handling
The East Tennessee State University Golf Team has received an apology from Delta Airlines after airline employees did not treat the team’s golf club bags with care. Delta came under fire after a video surfaced showing staffers throwing the team’s golf bags around haphazardly in San Diego. The ETSU men’s golf team is in Carlsbad, California for the NCAA Championship.
ETSU Athletic Director Richard Sander says there were a few damaged golf bags, but no clubs were damaged. The video, which was released on X or Twitter received over 5 million views of workers moving the clubs by just throwing them through the air and landing on the concrete pavement.
Delta released a statement saying “We apologize to the ETSU Golf team and ask for a mulligan on how their equipment was handled. We’re in direct contact with the Bucs to ensure they have what they need to successfully compete in the NCAAs.”
Unifi Aviation also issued a response saying The way the luggage was being handled is not consistent with their training and their policies. They say they are investigating and intend to take the appropriate action.
The NCAA Men’s Golf Championship starts Friday and runs through May 29.
