Cocke County Man Arrested After Stabbing Door

Cocke County deputies were sent to a home on Rays Loop early Wednesday morning after two men got into an altercation. According to the sheriff’s office, Jose Morales, his roommate Nick Matthews was intoxicated and making threats against Morales, but nothing physical had happened yet. However, less than an hour later deputies were called back to the residence after Morales told 911 that Matthews had pulled out a knife and threatened to kill him. Morales told deputies that Matthews had stabbed a door in the home. Matthews denied that claim, but deputies clearly observed fresh damage to a door consistent with being struck by a knife. Matthews was arrested, he has been charged with Attempted Aggravated Assault.
