Two Killed In Thinwood Drive Crash

Two people were killed after an accident in Newport Tuesday night. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol’s preliminary report, 19 year old Brayden Hopkins was driving a 2019 Kia Forte on Thinwood Drive shortly before 8:30pm. He was approaching the intersection with Hwy 25/70 and while negotiating a curve, went off the left side of the roadway. He then struck a parked semi trailer. Hopkins was killed in the crash along with his passenger, a 15 year old female whose name has not yet been released. We have had information that the female was a student at Cocke County High School, but have not confirmed that information.  We will update this story as information becomes available.
