Accident On Cosby Highway Injures Seven People

Seven people were not so fortunate Sunday Afternoon on Cosby Highway in Newport. 39 year old Reynaldo Velazquez was driving a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country southbound on Cosby Hwy. when 81 year old Mary Lindsey traveling northbound in a Honda CRV attempted to turn left onto Bryant Street causing the two vehicles to crash head on. The van wound up on the sidewalk and the CRV spun across the southland lanes. All six people, including tree children, in the Town & Country van were injured and transported to the Newport Medical Center. Mary Lindsey was also injured and taken to the hospital as well. Velazquez was driving on a suspended driver’s license…he was cited for that offense.
