Ag Certificates of Exemption Set To Expire
The Tennessee Department of Revenue offers agricultural certificates of exemption that allows farmers and those in the ag industry to buy certain items used primarily in agricultural operations, such as fertilizer and farming equipment, without paying sales tax. These exemptions expire every fourth year. The Department of Revenue is warning certificate holders that certificates for the current period expire December 31. Exemption card holders can renew their cards online by contacting the revenue department at revenue.support@tn.gov. If you are ban exemption holder, the department of revenue says you should have received a letter in the mail. There are directions in that letter guiding you on how to renew your exemption. Right now there are approximately 110,000 agricultural certificate of exemption holders in Tennessee.
