Armed Man Looks For Verizon Employee

Wednesday afternoon Newport police went to the Verizon location on Cosby Hwy. Employees stated that about 30 minutes earlier a man had walked into the store with two handguns he had stuffed in his waistband shortly before entering the store. The man then inquired as to whether a Verizon employee was on site. The man was told by store employees that the individual he was asking about moves around to different locations and had not been at the Newport location in a couple months. According to employees, the man then left the store in a gray 2019-2020 model Jeep Wrangler. Verizon corporate had employees pull video of the incident for police. The employee who was asked for by the man was notified and stated he had no idea who the man was or why anyone would be asking for him as he had no conflicts with anyone.
