Armed Man Resists Arrest

Over the weekend, Cocke County police came upon a vehicle on River Street…with a man slumped over in the passenger seat. Deputy Forbes knocked on the glass of the vehicle but the subject didn’t move. Forbes was evantually able to get the attention of the subject who stated he was just resting and was with his girlfriend. Deputy Forbes asked him what his name was but refused to give any information….Sergeant Joshua Boyce also asked the subject to provide his name but he refused. At this point the subject was asked to step out of the vehicle but refused. Both officers asked multiple times for the man to step out of the vehicle he would not comply. Sergeant Boyce and Deputy Forbes then attempted to remove the man from the car, but he resisted… at that time officers saw a Taurus 9mm handgun in the man’s waistband. After a brief struggle the subject was detained and the gun secured. Deputies discovered a syringe(commonly used to inject drugs) in the man’s coat pocket. The man finally gave his identity as 30 year old Ethan Bush…he told deputies that he didn’t give his name because he had warrants.

Deputies located the girlfriend nearby…her name 26 year old Nikoda Billington. Both Bush and Billington were wanted in Hamblen County.
