Arrest Warrant Issued For Newport Man

An arrest warrant has been issued for a Newport man regarding a case of domestic assault. 30 year old Marah Meeks reported to Cocke County deputy Jessica Butler that she had been assaulted by her ex-boyfriend 50 year old William Crisp. Meeks said that Wednesday afternoon she was walking on Armory Road when Crisp saw her and stopped his vehicle. She stated that Crisp told her if he couldn’t have her, then no one could and he hit her over the head with what she described as a big stick. That blow to the head resulted in a gash that wound up needing medical care and staples. Meeks says that Crisp took off with her debit card and smashed her cell phone which he also took off with so she had no way of calling 911. A good Samaritan wound up giving her a ride to the Newport Medical Center where she was treated for the wound to her head. The Cocke County Sheriff’s department has issued an arrest warrant for William Crisp.
