ATF Flags Gun Sent To Local FFL Dealer
A firearm that was sent to a local FFL dealer from a private purchase had been flagged by the ATF. Jesse Jones told Newport police that he had purchased the gun on Cheaperthandirt.com in November and had it shipped to FFL dealer Smoky Mtn. Silencer in the Western Plaza for the transfer. However, Jones says the tracking stopped updating once the gun reached Memphis, TN. Smoky Mtn. Silencer recently received the gun but owner Michael Hartzog called police when the gun came back flagged by the ATF. Police believe that when the Taurus TX22 shipment was delayed and the tracking stopped updating, the ATF entered the gun as stolen or missing as per their policy. The gun is currently in possession of the Newport Police Department while they investigate.
