Body Found In Burned Up Car In Greeneville
More details have been released regarding a body that was found after crews extinguished a car fire in Greeneville Tuesday night. Firefighters were dispatched to the Eastside Baptist church around 8pm Tuesday and they found a car completely engulfed in flames. When they extinguished the flames, police discovered a burned body inside. David Fox, who is the pastor of the church says that surveillance video from the church’s parking lot showed the car driving into the church’s nativity scene, then backed up and drove into the corner of the church building. Shortly after hitting the building, the car burst into flames. The flames did spread into the church and up to the church’s roof causing quite a bit of damage. Police are investigating the incident. The burned body has been sent to the William L. Jenkins Forensics Center in Johnson City for an autopsy and to try to identify the remains.
